The Companion plans are offered by Unity Financial Life Insurance Company. This policy consists of endowment plans to provide final expense coverage. These may include funeral costs, outstanding bills such as medical or utility bills and loan balances such as mortgage, auto or credit cards. In fact, it can cover any expense that you might leave behind. You may want to leave a small legacy to a relative or to your church.

The Companion plans guarantee that your premium will never increase, your face amount will never decrease, your policy will build cash value and any proceeds to your beneficiary will not be taxed.

Companion is a simplified issue policy. There is no medical exam required. You apply by answering some yes/no health questions on the application and on a telephone interview with a Unity underwriter. Based on your answers, you will be offered the best possible plan for which you qualify. The Preferred plan provides immediate coverage. The Standard plan, depending on the state of issue, provides either an immediate, day one death benefit or the return of all premiums paid with 10% interest during the first two policy years.

Premiums can be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly or by monthly bank draft from a checking or savings account.

The Companion plans also offer an optional, additional benefit and rider (subject to state approval). A Nursing Home Rider (NHR) is available which waives the premium while the Insured is confined in a nursing home. An accidental death benefit (ADB) can be added for death by accidental means. The NHR and ADB are approved in most states where Companion is approved. 

A 30-day free look period gives you time to decide, the opportunity to review the policy and return it for a full refund if it is not what you need.
